For her work as founder of the local nonprofit, empowerHER, Cara was recognized as a "Women of Influence" by South Shore Living magazine in 2015. Cara relishes her time with family and friends and believes in giving back and is grateful for the beautiful life at her fingertips.
In 2013, empowerHER was formed out of the gratitude Cara had for all the layers of support her own family received following the loss of her mother from breast cancer when Cara was just 9 years old. Cara volunteers her time to grow the organization and today, empowerHER offers two types of programming for the girl and her family. empowerHER hosts group events that remind the girls they are not alone in their grief and also offers a one-on-one mentor match program for girls ages 5-18. Cara is also a member of 12 Women Care, a pay-it-forward initiative offering support to individuals and organizations on the South Shore.

empowerHER exists for young girls who have experienced the early loss of their mother. By creating enhanced experiences surrounding any event, the organization instills confidence and reduces isolation through a community of sisterhood that offers hope to each of the girls we serve.
